Slaves to Fear-No More

Have you heard this song?

For the past 10 months it has been on repeat in my house.  My anthem for this year.  Why do I play it so often?  Because I need  the truths to take root in my soul. Because I must declare the words in rebuttal to the lies the enemy whispers in my ear.

I’m no longer a slave to fear.

For many of us we must first battle and overcome fear in our lives.  The enemy binds us with fear, so that this fear will keep us from engaging in the battle.

What fear holds you today?  Would you sing this song over yourself, over your fear?

The spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again, rather, the spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship and by him we cry, Abba Father. Romans 8:15

Did you read that?  We do not have a spirit that makes us slaves or fearful.  When we accepted the work of Jesus on the cross for our salvation we became sons and daughter of God, a God whose perfect love casts out all fear.

I am a child of God.

Power comes when we declare who we are and to whom we belong.  We are children of God.

Think on this truth.  What does it mean to you?  How does this truth provide strength for today?

You split the sea so I could walk right through it.

The Lord split the Red Sea so the Israelites could walk on dry land to escape the Egyptian army. He rescued them from their enemies.  He rescued me from my enemies.  He rescued you from your enemies.  He split the sea for us.  He made a way of escape.

Do you have an enemy breathing down your neck? Do not succumb to fear.  Declare who your God is, the one who can part seas.

What if today this is your battle song?

As fear begins to creep in speak boldly…I’m no longer a slave to fear.  I am a child of God.

Them are some fightin’ words.
